One year closer to retirement

Yes, she looks so young but my mom is getting older. We celebrated her birthday today. I know proper etiquette states that I should not disclose her age so I will leave it up to you to guess. We all had a nice time eating and laughing. Check out some pictures.

Want some cheese with that wine?

We hosted a wine and cheese night. Although it may sound sophisticated, it was a casual night to get together, have a good time and drink. There was a nice turn out of people; almost 30. A special thanks to the Long Island crew (Paola, Dana and Phil) for making it to the party. We had lots to eat, 9 different cheeses, breads, different hor'deuvres, dips, fruits and lots of desserts. Even though we polished off 14 bottles we didn't finish everything that people brought. To name a few of the wines sampled: Sparkling Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio, Gewurtztraminer, Pinot Grigio, Trebbiano, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chianti, Carbernet, Moltepulciano, Valpolicella, Vidal Ice Wine
Deanna organized a couple of games with prizes. Thank you Jennifer for helping and congratulations to Dan and Angelina, the big winners.
We are looking forward to having another party and taking suggestions.

Alessio takes Manhattan

This weekend we went to the big bad city. Alessio has been to the city once before but it was more of a drive-by, when we stopped to see Larry one night. But this time around he did quite a bit of sightseeing.
Our original intention was to see the tree at Rockefeller before it was taken down for the season. Since this was the last day we weren't sure what we were going to find; the tree all lit up or the tree going through the wood chipper. Luckily it was still lit. We also went to visit our favorite city socialites, Larry and Sabrina. Together we strolled around Central Park, hunted for a great organic restaurant, went to FAO Schwartz, and continued on 5th Ave. We did a lot of walking. I give Larry credit for not breaking down and jumping in a cab. It was a long day but lost of fun.

Epiphany

We grew up with a nice tradition of getting a gift on the befana. So Alessio got to bask in the thrill of opening one more present. Gabby and Richie hosted an Epiphany party at their house. Another day of eating and drinking. And a beautiful day it was. I don't know what is going on with nature but we should not have 70 degree weather in January. Unfortunately, Deanna had to work. In addition to missing her company we also missed her photo skills so I just have this picture from the morning.
